Don't Laugh Out Loud marks my first original songwriting collaboration and holds a very special place in my heart.
I wrote these lyrics in loving memory of my mother and grandmother, whose lives, love, and strength continue to inspire me every day. While writing this song, I wasn't thinking about success or recognition. I simply wanted to honor two remarkable women who helped shape the person I am today.
Bringing these lyrics to life became even more meaningful because the music was composed, arranged, and produced by my uncle, Maxie Columbus. Music has always been part of our family. My grandfather encouraged both of us in different ways—he inspired Maxie to play guitar and encouraged me to sing as a little girl. Decades later, our creative paths came together in this song.
My hope is that Don't Laugh Out Loud reminds listeners to treasure the people they love, to show kindness, and to remember that life's most precious moments are often the ones we don't expect.
Thank you for listening and for sharing this journey with me.

The Story Behind Don't Laugh Out Loud
Some songs are written to entertain. Others are written because they come from a place deep within the heart.
Don't Laugh Out Loud is one of those songs.
I wrote these lyrics in loving memory of my mother and my grandmother, who were both born in the beautiful town of Levuka on the island of Ovalau, Fiji.
As I wrote, I wasn't thinking about charts, streams, or success. I was thinking about family, memories, strength, and the values they passed on to me.
Having these words transformed into music by my uncle, Maxie Columbus, has made this project even more special. It has become a family collaboration and a tribute to two remarkable women whose love continues to inspire me every day.
I hope that when you listen to this song, you'll think of someone who has touched your own life and helped shape the person you are today.
Thank you for listening.
