I’m delighted to share my first original song, Don't Laugh Out Loud. Although many people know me as a novelist, writing lyrics has always been another way for me to tell stories. This song holds a special place in my heart, and seeing it come to life has been an unforgettable experience. The music was beautifully composed, arranged, and produced by my uncle, Maxie Columbus, whose talent, creativity, and encouragement transformed my words into music. "Don't Laugh Out Loud" is a gentle reminder that life can change in an instant. It speaks about compassion, humility, resilience, and the importance of treating one another with kindness, because we never truly know what someone else may be carrying. The Story Behind Don't Laugh Out Loud
Some songs are written to entertain. Others are written because they come from a place deep within the heart.
Don't Laugh Out Loud is one of those songs.
I wrote these lyrics in loving memory of my mother and my grandmother, who were both born in the beautiful town of Levuka on the island of Ovalau, Fiji.
As I wrote, I wasn't thinking about charts, streams, or success. I was thinking about family, memories, strength, and the values they passed on to me.
Having these words transformed into music by my uncle, Maxie Columbus, has made this project even more special. It has become a family collaboration and a tribute to two remarkable women whose love continues to inspire me every day.
I hope that when you listen to this song, you'll think of someone who has touched your own life and helped shape the person you are today.
